Federal Disaster Assistance
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding beginning on April 26, 2024 and continuing. This FEMA declaration makes federal funding available to affected individuals across numerous Texas counties. To find out if your county is included as a declared disaster area, visit disasterassistance.gov.
Assistance provided may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance through any of the following:
Small Business Administration (SBA) Assistance
The SBA is also offering assistance to small business owners and homeowners in designated counties.
Businesses and private nonprofit organizations may be eligible to borrow from the SBA to repair or replace damaged assets and make improvements to prevent future disaster damage. Small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, aquaculture businesses, and most private nonprofits can access Economic Injury Disaster Loans for working capital needs, even if no property damage occurred.
Homeowners may also borrow to repair or replace real estate, repair or replace personal property, including vehicles.
